Overview

A boutique alternative investment manager is seeking an experienced Iberian Fundraising Director to lead business development and capital-raising activities across Spain and Portugal. This individual will be responsible for building the firm's presence in the region, developing investor relationships, and driving asset growth across the firm's investment strategies.

This is a highly entrepreneurial opportunity for a commercially minded fundraising professional who enjoys building markets from the ground up. Initially, the focus will be on generating inflows from family offices, private wealth investors, high-net-worth individuals, and wealth management platforms, before expanding the firm's reach into more institutional capital pools as the business continues to grow.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing the firm's regional footprint and will work closely with senior leadership, portfolio managers, and investor relations colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a fundraising strategy across Spain and Portugal.
• Establish and maintain relationships with family offices, HNWIs, wealth managers, private banks, multi-family offices, and independent financial advisers.
• Identify and cultivate new investment opportunities for the firm's hedge fund strategies.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective investors and intermediary relationships.
• Arrange and lead investor meetings, presentations, due diligence sessions, conferences, and roadshows.
• Represent the firm externally and act as a key ambassador within the Iberian investment community.
• Collaborate with investment and investor relations teams to deliver compelling investment messaging and market updates.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the firm's strategies, performance, portfolio positioning, and competitive differentiation.
• Provide market intelligence on investor sentiment, competitor activity, and fundraising trends within the region.
• Assist in developing marketing materials and fundraising content tailored to the Iberian market.
• As the platform grows, progressively expand coverage to include institutional investors such as pension funds, insurers, endowments, foundations, consultants, and outsourced CIOs.
• Contribute to broader strategic initiatives aimed at increasing the firm's European and global investor base.

Candidate Profile

• Significant experience in hedge fund, alternative investment, or asset management fundraising.
• Demonstrated track record of raising assets within Spain and/or Portugal.
• Existing network across family offices, private wealth channels, and sophisticated individual investors within Iberia.
• Strong understanding of hedge fund strategies and alternative investments.
• Ability to operate independently and build a fundraising franchise within a growing organisation.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong commercial instinct and business-development capability.
• Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
• Strong knowledge of the Iberian investment landscape and regulatory environment.
• Fluency in Spanish and English is essential; Portuguese would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region.

Preferred Experience

• Experience fundraising for hedge funds, private markets, liquid alternatives, or specialist investment strategies.
• Existing relationships with institutional allocators across Iberia.
• Experience working within a boutique or entrepreneurial investment management platform.
• Proven ability to develop new markets and establish long-term investor relationships from inception.
