Sawmill Trust Company (STC) is accepting applications for a paid internship for the summer of 2026.
Sawmill is a private multi-family office dedicated to supporting the financial well-being of families across generations. Established by the Brooks family to manage proceeds from the Brooks-Scanlon forest products business, we remain committed to serving as an extension of each family's investment needs, independent of large financial institutions.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Summer Investment Analyst to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in investment management within a collaborative and research-driven environment. The intern will support various aspects of the investment process, including asset allocation analysis, portfolio construction research, manager evaluation, and portfolio monitoring.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring investment opportunities across various asset classes.
- Participate in meetings with investment managers and contribute to due diligence processes.
- Research market trends, investment strategies, and emerging opportunities to support portfolio decisions.
- Maintain and update investment databases to track prospective and existing investments
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Strong academic record with a solid understanding of basic investment concepts.
- Maintain a minimum GPA, 3.0 (or B) as specified by an academic institution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective oral and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The internship position requires candidates to be available for regular working hours in downtown Minneapolis. While there may or may not be an immediate opportunity for a full-time role at Sawmill Trust Company following the internship, it is worth noting that many of our past interns have successfully transitioned to full-time positions within the industry after their internship experience.
