Overview
The Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager positions at Kornitzer Capital Management/Buffalo Funds are ideal roles for an individual looking to join an ensemble team in a collaborative environment. Portfolio Managers are aligned to specific funds and the Investment Analysts partner with portfolio managers within style or across market caps, monitoring existing holdings, understanding trends and market conditions within the sector, and recommending new ideas for the portfolios.
We have particular needs for an experienced High Yield Investment Analyst and a Health Care Investment Analyst.
Responsibilities
- Investment decision maker and implement the fund’s investment strategy (Portfolio Manager)
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis on companies
- Monitor and assess trends, earnings catalysts, as well as macro and competitive factors impacting companies within the sector
- Develop financial models and valuation analyses for existing and proposed holdings
- Construct investment reports for proposed holdings
- Attend meetings with management teams, sell-side brokers, and other industry resources
- Work as part of a collaborative team to support the overall goals of the firm and contribute to a dynamic, innovative work environment
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Finance, Economics, or another related field
- CFA designation required (Level 3 candidates may apply, offer continent on passing)
- Analyst: Minimum 5 years of analyst experience. Portfolio Manager: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Portfolio Manager.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg/FactSet preferred
Skills And Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of financial markets
- Knowledge of macroeconomic indicators and their impact on financial markets
- Understanding of financial statements, modeling, and valuation methodologies
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- High level of intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Effective relationship management and communication (written and verbal) skills
- A desire to work as part of a team
