Description
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the Japan finance function within a well-established international investment banking and financial services institution. Reporting to the regional head, you will oversee regulatory reporting, financial controls, and statutory compliance while delivering strategic financial insights to senior leadership. This is a high-visibility leadership role with direct impact on governance, stability, and business performance in Japan.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial, regulatory, and tax reporting
- Act as the primary finance contact for regulators, auditors, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders
- Review and approve financial statements, management accounts, regulatory submissions, and statutory filings
- Drive continuous improvement of financial controls, reporting systems, and operational processes
- Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making and business growth
- Ensure full compliance with JGAAP, IFRS, local regulatory requirements, and internal corporate policies
- Over 10 years of experience in financial accounting, regulatory reporting, or finance management within financial services
- Strong hands-on experience with Japanese statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Japanese accounting standards (JGAAP) and IFRS
- Experience operating in regulated environments such as investment banking or securities firms
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement
- High level of accountability, integrity, and governance awareness
- Japanese: Business level (written and verbal)
- English: Business level (written and verbal)
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent)
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
- Experience implementing or enhancing financial systems and internal controls
- Familiarity with cross-border reporting and multinational corporate structures
