We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting / Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day financial operations of our growing healthcare organization. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic insight in a fast-paced, startup environment.
This is a working manager role responsible for overseeing accounting functions, improving processes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting executive decision-making through strong financial reporting and analysis.
The ideal candidate has experience in growth-stage or startup environments, thrives in ambiguity, and has successfully built or improved accounting processes while leading a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Oversight
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including General Ledger, AP, AR, and reconciliations
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
- Manage multi-entity accounting and consolidations
- Prepare and analyze cash flow statements and forecasts
- Ensure accurate payroll-related journal entries and accruals
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop executive-level financial reports and dashboards
- Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Translate financial data into actionable insights for leadership
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate and support external audits
- Strengthen internal controls and documentation
- Maintain documentation for Workers' Compensation and other regulatory reporting
- Ensure financial processes are compliant and audit-ready
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks
- Develop scalable systems and SOPs to support organizational growth
- Improve financial workflows across departments
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and review the work of accounting staff
- Set clear expectations and performance standards
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Prior management experience leading accounting or finance teams
- Strong knowledge of General Ledger management and month-end close processes
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidations
- Experience with AP/AR oversight
- Experience preparing cash flow statements and financial reporting
- Audit experience
- Strong analytical and financial storytelling abilities
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement efficiencies
- Must be willing to operate as a working manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation
- Healthcare industry experience
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Experience with financial system implementations or automation initiatives
